What to Expect on a San Antonio Ghost Tour

fall September events

Spooky season is upon us and if you’re looking for something truly ghostly in the Texas hill country, then a ghost tour is your answer. However, there’s a few things you definitely need to know before embarking on this particular endeavor.

Note: First things first, I was gifted a ghost tour by River City Ghosts for my honest feedback on the tour.

5 Things to Expect on a San Antonio Ghost Tour

Lots of Walking

Yes, a walking tour will have walking. You may also end a ways away from where you start. Make sure you wear good shoes, bring water, and get ready to walk.

Possible Waiting

Unfortunately, when you do a group tour you are at the mercy of everyone else too. For ours, there were two groups who didn’t know where they were supposed to meet. I’m not sure how that’s possible as the directions were very clear. So we waited on the groups to figure out where to meet. This isn’t the worst thing, but personally, I think the tour should start on time.

A History Lesson (in a good way)

The great part about a ghost tour is that they share history in a good way. Look, I really hated History in school and I’m not someone to watch historic documentaries or even read historical fiction. However, when you learn about the seedy parts of a city’s history, it can be incredibly interesting.

Unique Stories

Another positive about ghost tours is that you tend to get stories you can’t get elsewhere. Sure, you can take a regular historic tour, an architectural tour, or just a general city tour and learn some things. However, with a ghost tour, you get to find out all the seedy underbelly stories. I’ve done quite a lot of tours in San Antonio and I wasn’t expecting to have learned a lot about the city but I did.

Check the Weather

Finally, this is mostly for those of us in Texas, but check the weather. It’s hot in Texas until about mid-October at the earliest. These tours also tend to go rain or shine so be sure to bring an umbrella if necessary.
