As one of the most sparsely populated continents on Earth, Australia isn’t short of peaceful places – but that’s not just good for catching up on your reading! Australia is home to the 3,200 square kilometer River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve, meaning it’s one of the best places on Earth to view and photograph the night sky free of light pollution from human habitation. You’ll be able to snap more stars than anywhere else, including constellations usually invisible to the human eye, exotic features like dwarf stars and supernovae remnants, and even the Milky Way itself.
3. Truly unique seascapes
The world is approximately 70% ocean, so it’s no surprise that seascapes are a popular choice of subject for those of us who like to take photos of our travels. Locations such as the Great Barrier Reef are not found anywhere else on Earth, and the interaction between Australia’s unique flora and fauna as the tides ebb and flow – creating stunning sunsets, gorgeous blooms and amazing migrations before your eyes – means you won’t be short of subjects not found elsewhere.

The exotic geological work that went into forming Australia has left it with a truly staggering diversity of climates, from jungle to snow to scorching desert – which makes for all kinds of weird and wonderful geography you won’t find elsewhere.
