January is a rough month. I once read something about it being one of the most depressing months of the year. And I believe it. Money is tight because those Christmas bills come rolling in, most people are over the weather and just ready for spring. However San Antonio in January is usually temperate weather and low on the crowds.
I get it, it’s a hard month. But that’s why it’s so important to get out and enjoy a few things. Here’s my monthly round-up of activities in the Texas Hill Country area.

Events in San Antonio in January
San Antonio in January is actually pretty nice because the weather is usually rather tame and the crowds have dispersed.
Christmas Lights
Wait, what? Yes, the Christmas lights on the riverwalk stay up until January 7th, so if you hurry, you can still make it and guess what? The crowds are much lower now. No reason you can’t still enjoy them (source)!
Trolly Light Tour
Yes, this also means you can still take a trolly light tour until January 5th, so hop to it (source)!
Top Tip:
Book a Trolly Tour ahead of time so you don’t miss out.

The ice skating rink is also still up in the beginning of January. It lasts until January 5th, so there’s time for a Trolly light tour followed by some ice skating (source).
