25 Beautiful Bucket List Beaches to Set Foot On

best beaches

I’m a big fan of being outside. From the mountains to the beaches, I love the natural world around us. In honor of summer quickly approaching, I decided to round-up bucket list beaches. I haven’t been to a lot of beaches but I did live in Australia for 3 years and hit some of the best beaches in the world there.

As you can imagine, there are a lot of beaches in the world so I decided I’d have to give myself a limit. I decided to keep it to 25 beaches around the world that I’d love to set foot on. In order to keep it simplified, I’m breaking it down by continent and including how you can see each of these beaches with tours.

After decades of traveling, there’s 3 companies I tend to use over and over and recommend to everyone:

Bucket List Beaches

Let’s talk about how I pick my beaches. Of course, I want the turquoise water and white sand but I also will choose the ones with something unique. For instance, rock formations, unique culture, or fun animals will add that beach to my bucket list.

Asia

The Asian culture is one that I love exploring and learning about. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Southeast Asia but only once and I’d love to make my way back. We didn’t do the beach thing when we traveled here either and there’s several I’d love to see.

Kelingking Beach, Indonesia

This beach is known as “T-Rex Bay” because of its unique rock formations.

Haeundae Beach – Busan, South Korea

I love that this beach sits right next to the city, making it a unique experience for sure.

Phra Nang Cave Beach – Ao Nang, Thailand

A beach with a cave is definitely something I will have to see in my lifetime. We actually tried to see this when we went to Thailand but didn’t get to go inside the cave because of a flood that took place.

Pantai Melasti Ungasan – Bali, Indonesia

The road winds right next to this beach but it still boasts to be a great place to relax, so I think it’s something I’ll have to prove myself.

Africa

The only country in Africa I’ve been to is Morocco and we did not hit beaches but I would love to head to places such as the Seychelles and Cape Town.

Camps Bay Beach, Cape Town

The mountains meet the beach here and it makes is so unique and beautiful, I’d love to see it IRL!

Anse Source D’Argent on La Digue Island, Seychelles

The giant rocks set aside the turquoise water makes this one a beach I need to see.

Mtende Beach, Zanzibar

Towering cliffside rock formations make this unique beach a place I would love to visit.

North America

Believe it or not, North American beaches are some of the least that I’ve visited and I personally am not impressed with the beaches in the US main 48 states so they’re not making my list.

Tunnels Beach, Hawaii

The mountains covered in tropical plants right next to the beach make this one a must see as well.

Pink Sands Beach, Bahamas

I mean, it’s pink?! What more do I need?

Playa Fronton, Dominican Republic

Another beach with epic cliff-sides that I must see.

Grand Anse, Grenada

The trees lining this beach are so interesting, making it a must-add to this list.

South America

South America is another place that we haven’t explored much, but don’t worry, it’s on the list! Here’s four beaches I must see.

El Cabo San Juan, Colombia

This beach made the list because of the journey it takes to get there. You must take a two-hour hike to enjoy this beach.

Playa Punta de Lobos, Chile

This beach is lined with cactus and if I love one plant, it’s the cactus.

Playa Roja, Peru

Located in a National Preserve, the red sands of this beach make it one I need to see.

Genipabu Beach, Brazil

Boasting epic sand dunes, this beach scores a spot for the unique sweeping sand I need to touch.

Europe

I haven’t explored a lot of beaches in Europe but I have visited the French Riviera and Greece. While those beaches are spectacular, I decided to look for beaches outside of these places to add to my bucket list.

Playa de Cofete, Fuertventura

The orange-ish red sand is beautiful against the blue water.

Diamond Beach, Iceland

Giant iceberg pieces that look like diamonds on black sand is all I need to convince me to go to this beach.

Grotte De Benagil, Portugal

I love the cave on this beach with a hole in the top!

Spiaggia Dell’Arcomagno, Italy

Another beach with fun caves and this one you have to swim (or boat) through the caves to reach the beach itself.

Kaputas Beach, Turkey

Honestly, Turkey is just a place I really want to go so I had to add a beach from there to my list.

Fraser Island shipwreck

Australia/Oceania

Now, we lived in Australia for 3 years so this is one place that we did experience many of the beaches and they are some of the best in the world.

Whitehaven Beach, Whitsundays Australia

Whitehaven Beach is best viewed from an airplane and the swirls of sand quickly show you why it’s special

Hyams Beach, Australia

Hyams Beach is near Sydney and actually has the Guinness book of world record for the whitest sand in the world.

Torrent Bay, New Zealand

Located in Abel Tasman National Park, this bay has gold sand and is unique to hike. The gold sand will swirl with the turquoise water.

Wineglass Bay, Australia

Wineglass Bay can be found in Tasmania, Australia and is a great place to visit because it is nature at it’s finest with very few people around.

Fraser Island, Australia

Fraser is a special sand island (the largest in the world actually) and can be visited by four-wheel drive only. The shipwreck on Fraser makes for great photos too.
